King of Scars Week! + DIY Earrings

Hi! Happy King of Scars week! I’m super excited to dive back into the Grishaverse and catch up with my favorite Ravkan King, Nikolai Lanstov ❤

Not only that, but I’M MEETING LEIGH BARDUGO NEXT WEEK!!! Ahhhhhh! This will actually be my first author book signing EVER so I’m really excited and also really nervous because I already know I’m gonna be super embarrassing and awkward. I’m dragging my sister with me since I forced her to read Six of Crows last year and I’m too much of a chicken to go alone haha. My plan is to gush about the Six of Crows TV news and Kanej and also somehow tell her how much “I would come for you. And if I couldn’t walk, I’d crawl to you” has ruined my life. We’ll see how that goes…

I’ve been working on getting my outfit put together and decided to make some DIY King of Scars earrings! I have become obsessed with earrings lately and was planning on making some Harry Potter book earrings, but with KoS coming out now I opted to start with these! They are SUPER, SUPER easy to make so check out the quick tutorial below 🙂

wood pieces (I found mine at Michael’s for 35 cents each)
book cover print-outs (regular printer paper is fine)
earring hooks
jump rings
mod podge
xacto knife
small beads

-Using an xacto knife, cut your wood pieces down to the size you want your earrings to be. I cut my pieces into quarters, and my finished earrings are 1.5″ x 1″. You can smooth down the sides of the wood with sandpaper.

-Make small holes near the top of your wood pieces. I used an awl and it worked pretty well. Make sure it’s big enough to fit your jump ring.

-Take pictures of your cat as she sits DIRECTLY on your project.

-Place your book cover print-outs on your wood piece, and apply some mod podge over it using a paintbrush. Wait about 10-15 mins between coats (I used 2 coats).
-Poke a small hole into the print-out in the same place where the hole in your wood piece is.
-Attach the jump ring and the earring hook through the holes. (I added some small beads onto the front and back of the jump ring for added decoration. I also painted the back of each earring gold.)
-Tip: When I make these again, I’m going to put cover print-outs on both the front and back of the wood, so in case the earrings spin around, you’ll still see a cover!

That’s it! Now I get to show off my mini King of Scars to Leigh when I see her next week! I will definitely be making some more of these lil’ babies. 🙂 Can’t wait to get the ebook delivered to my phone tonight! Woop woop!
