“Sure I do,” countered Lila cheerfully. “There’s Dull London, Kell London, Creepy London, and Dead London,” she recited, ticking them off on her fingers. “See? I’m a fast learner.”
-V.E. Schwab, A Darker Shade of Magic
Hellooooo! It’s a book rec post! Yay! I got this idea when I got the lovely shirt pictured above from jordandene.com, who recently started a Shades of Magic clothing line in collaboration with Victoria herself! I love the shirt so much (it’s so comfy!) and there’s a few other designs, stickers, mugs and tote bags! So cute. Also this post is appropriately timed since Victoria has so many releases out this month: Steel Prince, The Near Witch and some new Collector’s Editions! Schwab month!
Shades of Magic is one of my absolute favorite series ever, and one of the coolest parts of the worldbuilding is the four alternate Londons. Based on book cover colors, I’ve compiled a list of a few of my top recommendations for Grey, Red, White and Black London (which was way harder than I expected; a lot of these could fit into multiple categories)! I’ve resisted the urge to add other books by Victoria to this list because they’re literally ALL in this color scheme and that would be cheating, but just know that I would recommend each and every one of her books, ever. All of the following book recs are almost as magical as the Antari themselves 😉 As travars, readers!
Any thoughts about the above books or recommendations for others is always welcome! 🙂
