JUDE | A character who would probably kill you in your sleep
*cue Plain White T’s* Heeey there DELILAH BARD. Knife babe.
CARDAN | A character who seems like a bad guy but is ultimately more complex than you thought
One of my faves, Holland Vosijk from Shades of Magic. I actually loved Holland even when he was just straight up a Bad Dude, but A Conjuring of Light RUINED MY LIFE and so much of it is because we finally get into Holland’s head and hear about his backstory. I honestly love him so much. SO much.
LOCKE | A character (or plot twist) that made you want to throw the book
Illuminae! If I had been reading the actual book I would’ve 100 percent chucked it across the room. The entire audiobook was harrowing and frightening but that TWIST. Oh my god I was actually shrieking in my car. I was FURIOUS. Absolute BETRAYAL.
TARYN | A character who deceived you
Let me just start this answer by saying: Fuck you, Taryn. Also no one’s gonna get this reference because I’ve never seen anyone else talk about this book ever, but in Carrie Jones’ Endure there was a seven page span where I was in an absolute RAGE because I thought a character had betrayed me. But then it turns out he was faking it and I was SO happy. Ending this answer with a FUCK U TARYN!!
VIVI | A book that was significantly different than the others in the series
I thought about this one really hard but I can’t think of a good answer, sorry. 😦
VALERIAN | A character that just needs to die
Oh my GOD it took my a while to think of someone for this and then it came to me and I was like OF COURSE!!!!! FATHER FUCKIN’ KONSTANTIN FROM WINTERNIGHT TRILOGY. I literally have never wished for a character death harder oh MAN. I HATE THAT GUY.
OAK | A smol character you would protect at all costs
My gut answers to this are Harry Potter and Percy Jackson, even though neither of them are really “smol” characters. I just love them to death. If anyone even LOOKS at those two the wrong way I’m like already squaring up for a fight.
THE CRUEL PRINCE | A book that surprised you with a twist
The only recent one I can think of is the twist in The Wicked Deep! I sat staring into space for a full minute after that one.
THE WICKED KING | A sequel book you thought was better than the first in the series
Siege & Storm duhhhh! Honestly, is there anyone who thinks Shadow & Bone is the best book in this trilogy?! Cuuuuuuuz it’s not.
THE QUEEN OF NOTHING | A book you’re excited for but know nothing about
Victoria’s Schwab The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue! All I know is that a girl makes a deal with the devil and I’m like, YUP THANKS VICTORIA.
