Finally, a post that’s not a review! I just celebrated my 23rd birthday last week and I got the most books I’ve ever gotten for a birthday/holiday, so I thought I’d do a quick book haul! 🙂
-The Art of Hercules: The Chaos of Creation
I’ve had this on my TBR for years, but it’s a twenty-year-old book and it’s always only been available via expensive secondhand retailers. BUT last week I found it from a Goodwill online, so I finally bought it as a birthday present to myself! Hercules is my all-time favorite Disney movie and I looove movie art books because seeing the process and concept art is so fun. I really enjoyed this and I’m so glad to finally have it on my shelf!
-To Infinity & Beyond: The Story of Pixar
Another book that’s been sitting on my TBR for years! I love Pixar movies so much and again, reading about the storyboarding and creative process behind animated movies is so interesting to me. For a long time I wanted to work in animation, and I would still totally jump at the chance if it ever came along. I’ve only read the section about Toy Story so far, but it’s really good!
-Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett
I read this one in a day and loved it! I wanted to get to it before my rom-com month ended and I’m super happy I did because it was so cute!
I received some new releases that I’m really excited for:
-Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson
-The Devouring Gray by Christine Lynn Herman
-Girls on the Verge by Sharon Biggs Waller
–Sorry I’m Late I Didn’t Want to Come by Jessica Pan
-We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal
-Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer (not a new release, but whatev)
I asked for a few books that I’ve already read but didn’t have physical copies of:
-The Wicked King by Holly Black
-This Savage Song/Our Dark Duet by V.E. Schwab
-Circe by Madeline Miller (the UK edition because I’ve been wanting that beautiful cover for AGES)
-A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer
-Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
-The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (the hardcover edition to complete my set!)
